Volunteer to take pictures at a local church's summer bible school or some other community activity. Keep a camera with you at all times. When the right shot falls in your lap, you need to be ready. If you're at an interesting event, take some shots and submit them to your local paper. Don't overlook the weekly community papers. They are often looking for content.
