Are you brave enough to do the 7 Day Digital Photography Challenge? It involves carrying your digital camera around with you for 7 days and doing at least 7 digital photographs per day. One of the great things about this challenge is it helps us remember how to use our digital camera.
I’ve selected the subtopic of gratitude as a way of giving this series a theme and helping us to remember (with digital photographs) the great things and people that are in our lives.
This is day three which is being grateful for nature. The digital photos at the top of the page are 4 of the photos that I did today. What I experience when I photograph outdoors is a clearing of my mind and a concentration on the colors, shapes, lines, shadows and textures all around me.
These 4 photographs help me to be grateful for the beauty that is around me each day. Yes they are the “stop and smell the roses” type of photos. You’ll notice that a few of the photos I didn’t put the subject “dead center” in the middle of the frame. Most people feel that the circle in the middle of their viewing frame is to center the subject. Not so. It’s more visually appealing when the main subject is “off center”. Give it a try; it may feel funny at first.
I know it may be a hassle to take some photos each day. I know what you might be saying to yourself…”but Bob you don’t know how busy I am!” Yes, I believe you and that’s exactly why you should be doing this. It helps you forget about any of the crap going on in your life, helps you clear your mind and opens the door (just a little) for peace and tranquility to enter. I think you may even be able to handle the fast pace of our lives if we give ourselves a little mental break each day. Give it a try, it might even be fun.
Tomorrow’s photographs in the area of gratitude are going to be “things we are able to do”. What do you do during the day that you are grateful for?
Please post your comments at the bottom of the page. I want to hear about your journey.
Here’s a video about choosing a camera in case you want to update your camera.
